The videos contain fragments of ceramic sculptures scanned in 3D, reworked through digital animation, transforming matter into a flow of movement and color. Each video, with its fusion of tangible elements and the digital environment, invites immersion into a universe of shapes where reality blends with deeper, unfathomable layers.
Alessandro Giannì (1989, Rome, Italy) began his artistic journey as a self-taught individual, later attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2011, although he did not complete his studies there.
From the onset of his education, the analog practice of painting merged with the utilization of the internet and new media. Within his body of work, various types of pieces coexist, rendered through traditional techniques such as painting, drawing, and sculpture, or hybridized with new technologies such as artificial intelligence, VR, and 3D video.
For several years, he pursued his artistic exploration, blending analog and digital elements. In 2014, he exhibited large-scale paintings at the Ñewpressionism event, hosted by Miltos Manetas at the Swiss Institute in Rome and Milan, where he had the opportunity to engage with artists of various generations and nationalities, including Petra Cortright, Sylvie Fleury, Olivier Mosset, Jon Rafman, and Amalia Ulman. In 2015, he served as the art director for the Egh project, led by Enrico Ghezzi and Emiliano Montanari, and some of his video interventions were installed at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival.
In 2020, he was among the founding artists of SPAZIOMENSA, an artist-run space aimed at fostering the artistic scene in Rome.
Contemporary Cluster for the Immaterial Salon is pleased to present Alessandro Giannì. The artist, in his exploration, combines various types of works, ranging from digital to more traditional ones: In his research there are different types of works, both of a traditional nature as painting, drawing and sculpture, and of a technological nature as artificial intelligence, VR, video, animation, 3D printing.
The works presented are Circular Displacement, Ephemeral Balance, and Not Meant to Exist and represent a journey through three-dimensional landscapes, where fragments of the artist’s universe come to life as if guided by their own consciousness. Like materialized dreams, these works stand as guardians of our imagination.
